Graft fighter appeals jail term

By Straits Times Interactive - SE ASIA

JAKARTA – THE sacked head of Indonesia’s anti-corruption commission had appealed against his 18-year jail sentence for murder, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Antasari Azhar, 56, was found guilty by the South Jakarta district court in February of organising the murder of businessman Nasrudin Zulkarnaen, his suspected rival for the affections of 22-year-old golf caddy Rhani Juliani.
